Happy Halloween!

Once again it is my favorite time of the year.  This is the time where most of society are themselves!  They put on a costume and suddenly they have balls of steel.  People are so friendly at this time of the year.  EVERYONE is approachable, so it makes me feel more ‘normal’.  I would talk to strangers, dance, play etc any day of the week, but for some reason most of society is a bit more reserved, judgmental or reclusive (that is until they’ve had a few drinks, or something to loosen themselves up), so their true inner spirit seems to come out on halloween.  This is also the time to create fun characters and play like you’ve never played before.

I hope you are all enjoying all that Halloween has to offer.  For those of you that don’t celebrate it, or don’t see it like I do, then perhaps my delicious pumpkin seed recipe video will entice you to read on.  To celebrate this special day, my family and I have put together a fun VO Chef Deb Recipe video for carving pumpkins with the family and making delicious Pumpkin seeds.  Warning, we didn’t necessarily carve pumpkins in the safest way, so perhaps we won’t teach the kids that one, but we did make some fantastic pumpkin seeds, the whole family will enjoy!  The video is only about 11 min long, so if you have some time, hit play and enjoy.

I have been doing a ton of character work as of late.  In fact one spot that I booked last week I had to play three different 40 year old women all in one spot.  Now that wasn’t easy.  Accents came in handy there.  It’s been a fantastic month of opportunity this past October, and now that November is upon us, it’s time to gear up and get ready for the end of year.  Wow, time flies.

I have had a very busy year this year.  Not only in Voice work but we have been building and preparing our acreage for the wedding event of a lifetime (well at least for me).  It is official (finally)!  My wedding date is set for Aug 12, 2017.  A full camping weekend spa retreat at our amazing acreage.  We have been renovating and building to create our dream wedding location.  I’ve learned that I absolutely love paving pathways, building retaining walls and out door kitchens, but it certainly distracts me from my work.  Once all is complete I will be posting pictures, so keep on the look out.

For those that don’t know I sing in a band with my fiancé, Wayne.  We are called “BootLegged The Band” and are doing very well in the rock scene.  We had a very full year gigging 2-3 times a month (most of us have family so can’t gig much more than that) and we already have 12 events booked into next year.  I never dreamed I’d be a lead singer in a rock band, but here I am at the age of 47, performing my heart out.  We recently played at the Bradford Barn on Oct 29th for our Halloween Howler.  The band went as Rock Zombie – The Deadly Revenge.  Including our bassist as one of the Zombie hunters from Walking Dead.  It was a very successful night.  So much fun!  I’ve included a few pics so you can see our characters for halloween this year and get to know BootLegged.  We hope to see you at one of our next events.  Like us on facebook at: www.facebook.com/bootleggedtheband
