Spring Is In The Air

I don’t know about where you live, but where I live in Canada, this was a record winter of snow. So much so that all the dogs in our neighborhood were running loose because the snow was as high as the fence line! More snow we’ve seen since we were kids, so after $30,000 in damages to our gazebo’s, sheds, motorhome, ceilings and roof, spring couldn’t come fast enough.

Spring is a rebirth. This is the time to embrace growth and bring that into your business. Some of you don’t experience winter – lucky you – but it’s still that time of year that we breathe in fresh air and watch new growth. Let’s put growth into our spring this year. This is the time to take control and create your new birth. Perhaps you’re a talent who’s been at this awhile and needing a refresh! Or a newbie needing to find your way into the industry. This is a great time of year to create growth.

You cannot just sit and wait for change. You have to take the reins and make it happen. For those of you that are new and are trying to do this 100% on your own because it’s too expensive and you can’t afford it, you will have a longer journey than you anticipated and likely spend more in the end than you needed to. Look at this as the College/University education. This can take years and a lot of finances to train, create demos, a website, business cards, equipment, studio set up (which truly makes a difference). We all had to make this investment – there are NO SHORTCUTS. In today’s time you have to know someone, you have to have credentials and you have to invest. You can’t expect to charge $300/hour if you haven’t earned your way to do so!

For those of you that have been at this a while, we are all seeing the changes. You cannot count on those same clients forever. What are you doing to stay proactive? Are you getting yourself in front of the right people? Are you creating relationships? Are you marketing or are you just counting on your agents to get it all for you? If you are feeling the changes, it’s time for you to take control. Recognize your value and find the clientele you need to thrive.

This is an industry of sales and sales never stops! You must always be selling yourself and putting yourself in front of the right people who hire. Agents can have hundreds of talents. The competition is fierce so you must stay on top of things. What are you doing to make change? Take a refresher course, work with your favorite coach, create some relationships on LinkedIn following the genre you want to pursue, refresh your demo, your branding, get in touch with old clients etc.

There is never a time you should get complacent. There is always someone who wants this as bad as you do, but they might be fresher, current, eager and ready to take on the world, much like you once were.

Love what you do. Do what you need to do to make sure you are ready for growth and most importantly NEVER STOP GROWING!

Until next time

All my best
